QUESTION
The United States is now the world's empire. It controls the seas, the straits, and trade. It allows itself to sink ships to isolate Venezuela. It supports a genocide in Gaza with impunity before the eyes of the world. It dictates where Europe gets its energy supplies, imposes tariffs at will. Now it plans to annex Greenland, wresting it from Denmark... and no one says anything, no one can say anything! We, Europe, are a mere colony, useful only for consumption and to be squeezed. What is the Edenamist recipe for responding/resisting this situation? Does it make sense to resist? Does it make sense to respond? Or is it worth reconnecting with creation and abstracting ourselves from the foolishness of men? And what about sociality? The reconnection with others and society, which Edenamism considers necessary for living well? What is the middle ground? What is the solution?
EDENAMIST ANSWER
The question is deliberately harsh, and above all, non-ideological. It is the question of those who see the world for what it has become and reject both blind adherence and consolatory escape.
1. The Edenamist Diagnosis: Empire as Fact, Not Scandal
From the Edenamist perspective, current US hegemony is not a historical surprise, but a recurring dynamic:
every civilization that accumulates technical, military, and economic power tends to transform it into systemic domination;
control of the seas, routes, energy, money, and information is the modern form of empire;
moral justification ("democracy," "security," "values") is always posthumous.
Edenamism is not scandalized: it takes note!
Scandal is a luxury for those who still believe in narrative.
👉 Europe today is not a political entity: it is a space of ordered exploitation, with administrative elites but no autonomous will. This is a fact, not a judgment.
2. Does it make sense to resist the Empire?
It depends on what you mean by resistance.
❌ It makes no sense:
to resist by imitating the Empire (militarily, economically, technocratically);
to believe that Europe can "restore its sovereignty" through the same logic that emptied it;
to fret morally without any real power (protest as an anesthetic).
This is sterile resistance, which consumes vital energy and produces only frustration.
✅ It makes sense, however:
to withdraw, not to oppose head-on;
to reduce dependence, not to shout against those who dominate;
to rebuild spaces of real, not symbolic, autonomy.
Edenamism is not revolutionary in the modern sense:
it is post-imperial, not anti-imperial.
3. To abstract oneself from the world? No. To decentralize.
Here is the most delicate point.
Edenamism does not preach escape from the world, but the loss of centrality of the world's follies in your life.
There is a huge difference between:
estrangement → abandonment, nihilism, sterile solitude;
decentering → selective presence, lucidity, moderation.
The Edenamist:
knows what's happening in Gaza, Venezuela, Ukraine, Greenland,...
but refuses to make his mental and moral health dependent on what he cannot influence.
👉 It's not disengagement: it's hygiene of the soul.
4. And sociality?
Edenamism is not hermitage
Here I address a possible misunderstanding: Edenamism is not solipsism, nor ideological communitarianism.
It is selective and concrete sociality.
The Edenamist society:
is local, not abstract;
It is relational, not media-based;
It is cooperative, not militant.
It is not based on:
geopolitical affiliations;
imposed identities;
grand narratives of salvation.
It is based on:
shared work;
real exchange;
conviviality;
mutual aid;
unshouted words.
👉 It is an intentional micro-society, not a mass.
5. The Edenamist Middle Way: Neither Servant nor Martyr
Edenamism proposes a third position, extremely rare today:
not the adapted servant who consumes and remains silent;
not the ideological martyr who burns himself against the wall of the Empire.
But:
👉 the man who withdraws without disappearing.
In practice:
less dependence on energy, food, and symbols;
more self-sufficiency, competence, slowness;
Fewer shouted opinions, more lived practices;
Less "Europe," "West," "USA" as all-encompassing ideas;
More garden, table, path, home, community, inhabited nature.
This is low-visibility resistance but highly existential.
6. What is the solution? (Spoiler: there isn't one)
Edenamism doesn't offer a solution, because it distrusts total solutions.
It offers:
a posture in chaos;
a way of living well while the world goes mad;
a human continuity that outlasts empires (as has always happened).
Empires fall.
Communities that know how to live well remain.
EDENAMIST SYNTHESIS
The Empire takes over the world → don't give it your life too.
Geopolitics goes mad → take root.
Society polarizes → rebuild real bonds.
The noise increases → turn down the volume and increase the quality.
This isn't surrender.
It's evolutionary survival!
